European Grand Prix – Valencia Free Practice 2

August 21, 2009

Back to the heat of the harbourside track for this afternoon’s session. Not a good day for Hamilton, got a bit sideways and smacked the shiny new nose on his car after 3 laps. The engineers who worked like mad to get it done in time for this weekend obviously weren’t too happy, and it was announced that he would take no further part in the session. Oh well.

Romain Grosjean managed to make 13th, which is ok, but Luca Badoer showed why he never got a chance before now. He only managed to go faster than Hamilton, who wasn’t on track and Jaime Alguersuari, who’s only done one race. He’s not really maximising his chance so far.

Local hero Alonso, who Martin Whitmarsh appears to have confirmed is Ferrari-bound, put on a show by managing to launch Heidfeld’s BMW into the air, thus ending Heidfeld’s session.

Fernando Alonso - off to Ferrari

Fernando Alonso - off to Ferrari?

Alonso ducked into the pits, got a new nose and went back out to top the time sheets, just ahead of Button and Barrichello, so it looks like Brawn have fied their issues.
